Christine Guilbault, First Secretary of the Political and Economic Section at the Embassy of Canada, visited the Hokkaido University Arctic Research Center on Monday, July 8, 2024. During her visit, Professor Uto Shotaro provided an introduction to the Hokkaido University Arctic Research Center, followed by presentations from Associate Professors Evgeniy Podolskiy, Takafumi Hirata, and Juha Saunavaara, who highlighted recent and ongoing research at HU ARC. First Secretary Guilbault discussed Arctic cooperation between Canada and Japan from the embassy’s perspective. The ensuing discussion focused on practical initiatives to enhance scientific collaboration between Japan and Canada in Arctic-related matters.
