International Conference「Ecosystem Studies of the Subarctic and Arctic Seas (ESSAS) Open Science Meeting」, co-hosted by our Center, was held in Tokyo

The international conference “Ecosystem Studies of the Subarctic and Arctic Seas (ESSAS) Open Science Meeting” (*), co-hosted by our Center, was held at the National Institute of Polar Research (Tachikawa, Tokyo) for three days from June 24 to 26, 2025. The meeting was held at the National Institute of Polar Research, Tachikawa, Tokyo (https://essas.arc.hokudai.ac.jp/what_s_new/2025-essas-osm/). Many scientists from Iceland, the United Kingdom, Canada, South Korea, Greenland, China, Germany, Norway, the United States, Poland, and Russia, presented their latest research on the natural environment, such as ocean physics, biogeochemistry, and ecosystems in the subarctic and Arctic regions. Notably, the invited lectures on the historical aspects of scientific efforts utilizing indigenous knowledge of the Arctic region attracted the audience. The next annual science meeting in 2026 will be held in Iceland.
