Qaanaaq Research Base
Hokkaido University under the ArCS-3 Project aiming to obtain International Collaboration Sites has established a Qaanaaq Research Base in collaboration with local partners in northwestern part of Greenland for the purpose of conducting field observations and various surveys.
This facility, which serves as the international collaboration site of the ArCS-3 Project, is being developed as a base for observations and regional co-creation carried out in cooperation with local residents, in order to build an international collaborative system concerning the Arctic region.
This Qaanaaq Research Base is equipped with multiple bedrooms, a kitchen, a dining area, a toilet, a shower, a washing machine, and other facilities, allowing approximately 10 researchers to stay and work there. Additionally, there is space available for storing equipment necessary for research and for conducting analyses.
Currently, around April each year, Hokkaido University collects usage plans from each researcher and enter into rental contracts for the summer period. For inquiries regarding usage, please contact us by email at the following address:
