On May 18, 2023, we held a special seminar with Professor Emeritus Shinichiro Tabata and Research student Diana Mikhailova of the Slavic-Eurasian Research Center. Professor Tabata, who retired from Hokkaido University in March 2023, is a researcher at the Center, and an expert in Russian economic research. Ms. Mikhailova is a research student at the Slavic-Eurasian Research Center. They spoke on “Economic Development in the Arctic Regions in Russia: before and after February 2022.” Many questions were asked, especially about changes and projections of tax revenues from this region and grants from the federal government as well as changes in the use of the Northern Sea Routes and changes and projections of the volume of transport. There were 15 participants on-site and 10 online.
