This week Dr. Podolskiy (ARC / HU) participated in the deployment of an Ocean-Bottom-Seismometer network over Kuril Trench, offshore Hokkaido (depths up to ~3000 m). This effort, led by the Institute of Seismology and Volcanology (ISV / HU), is focused not only on subduction-zone earthquakes but also on tests needed for continuing our collaborative research on marine geophysics in the Arctic. Instrument retrieval is planned for May-June 2021.
