Hokkaido University, as part of our human resource training and development activities under the ArCS III Project, conducts public exercises on the training ship Oshirō Maru from the Faculty of Fisheries.

These activities involve marine physical and chemical observations, collection of plankton and fish, visual surveys of birds and mammals, among others, to understand the marine environment and ecosystem of the Arctic Ocean, as well as to learn about the history and culture of the Arctic region.

We welcome applications from not only undergraduate students aiming to become researchers in natural and humanities sciences of the Arctic region but also from students who wish to actively engage in solving various issues related to the Arctic and disseminating knowledge about it through various social activities in companies, government, education, and NGOs.
