On October 9, 2024, the Arctic Research Center and the Foundation for Okhotsk Life and Culture Promotion concluded a partnership agreement to deepen their cooperative relationship in research and other activities in the Arctic region and the Okhotsk region and to contribute to each other’s development.
The Foundation for Okhotsk Life and Culture Promotion has three facilities managed and operated in Mombetsu City, including the Okhotsk Sea Ice Museum and is involved in the promotion of life, culture, and sports in the Okhotsk region.
The signing ceremony was held in the Okhotsk Sea Ice Museum, attended by Dr. Natsuhiko Otsuka, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Professor Shotaro Uto, Acting Director of the Arctic Research Center, and others. At the signing ceremony, Professor Uto stated, “In addition to research collaboration, we are sure to come up with various ideas, such as cooperation in exhibitions at the Okhotsk Sea Ice Museum and delivery of lectures by faculty members of the Arctic Research Center. The directors, auditors, and trustees of the foundation who attended the ceremony expressed their expectations for the results of the collaboration and the promotion of the region.
