“Economic and Environmental Dynamics of the Arctic Regions of Russia during Crises”
Abstract:
We pose the questions: how resilient the economy of the Arctic regions of the Russian Federation is to modern crises, how crises manifest themselves and are there any similarities as for the artic and how it can influence the ecological sphere of the Arctic regions of Russian Federation?
In theory the nature-intensive structure of the economies of resource regions extremely sensitive to price fluctuations on world commodity markets, which is especially dangerous during periods of crisis.
As a response to crisis processes of economic transformation (regional shift, import substitution, etc.) could potentially be launched, while their manifestation in resource economies should be, according to scientists, an increase in the value of natural resources and services, conservation and sustainable use natural capital while compensating its costs by increasing other types of capital.
In the presentation we give statistic review of the Arctic regions of Russian Federation economy dynamics during economic decrease in RF economy in 2019-2020 and 2022-2033 years on the basic of real-time data available and estimate relationship between the structure of industrial production in the region and economic dynamism using shift-share analysis for the period 2018-2021. The budget expenditures for environmental protection of the subjects of the Arctic Zone of the Russian Federation in 2012-2022 are analyzed.
