Special Lectures with students from Sapporo Kaisei Secondary School

Sapporo Kaisei Secondary School has been selected as a Super Science High School (SSH) by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) and has been implementing advanced science education. In this special lecture, the Center’s faculty members gave four lectures and had lively discussions on the relationship between the Arctic and humankind, the importance of Arctic environmental research and satellite remote sensing, Japan and the Arctic, and international relations over the Arctic. The activities of the Arctic Research Center were also introduced using exhibits at the Hokkaido University Museum. Finally, a board game for a changing Arctic was played as a hands-on learning experience, allowing participants to experience the relationship with the Arctic from the standpoints of various stakeholders.
