Dr. Kazuhisa A. Chikita, a researcher of ARC, was awarded the Paper Award and the Academic Award by the 43rd Conference of the Japanese Society of Physical Hydrology (JSPH) held on 5 November 2022 in the Kushiro-city, Hokkaido. In the paper awarded, the ice growth in Lake Kuttara, Hokkaido, was numerically simulated, and the non-freezing for the lake in the future, due to the global warming, was predicted.
Many presentations and papers based on the field observations in the Yukon River drainage basin, Alaska (1998 – 2013) and in subarctic lakes and lagoons (2013 – 2021) were also awarded as the Academic Award. After he retired from Hokkaido University in 2017, some of the papers were published in the Journal of JSPH in 2020 – 2022.
