Prof. E. Podolskiy \u2014 along with Assist. Prof. M. Ogawa (ARC&amp;NIPR) and Assoc. Prof. Y. Murai (ISV\/HU) \u2014 received a grant for innovative interdisciplinary approaches to cetacean monitoring from the J-PEAKS Future-Creation Regenerative Research Support Program at Hokkaido University. Whaling still takes place near Hokkaido and Greenland, where team members have been working for years, but our monitoring capabilities and knowledge about whales remain limited.
