This presentation shows the connection between nature and culture, the local and the global from the traditional handicraft \u201ckuksa<\/span><\/em>\u201d. <\/span>\u201cKuksa<\/span>\u201d is the handicraft of Finland and the indigenous S\u00e1mi people. <\/span>\u201cKuksa<\/span>\u201d is the Finnish word of a cup made from a birch burl. It is a popular souvenir of Finland and Lapland, and in recent years it has known well in Japan for the hiking boom. The price of <\/span>\u201ckuksa<\/span>\u201d varies widely depending on the material, whether it is made by hand or not, and whether it has the S\u00e1mi duodji mark, which guarantees authentic S\u00e1mi handicrafts. <\/span>\u201cKuksa<\/span>\u201d questions what is <\/span>\u201cauthenticity<\/span>\u201d and <\/span>\u201ctradition<\/span>\u201d from the perspective of making and selling handicrafts. In addition, it questions the forest which has inherited from the past to the present in Finland. By the perspective of the difficulty of getting birch burls, <\/span>\u201ckuksa<\/span>\u201d visualizes the network that connects nature and culture, the local and the global.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
