Overview<\/h2>\n

Hokkaido University, as part of the Human Resource Development Program in ArCS-3, holds a Special Lecture on Arctic & Antarctic Science II within the Hokkaido Summer Institute 2025 program. This program aims to learn about the outline and advanced research focused on the central themes of ‘Antarctica’ and ‘Arctic,’ which are characteristic research fields of our university, in English. In addition to acquiring specialized knowledge, another goal is to develop communication skills through attending lectures in English, engaging in Q&A sessions with overseas researchers, and making oral presentations.<\/p>\n

Implementation method<\/h2>\n

Hokkaido University will hold an intensive lecture series for about two weeks, featuring four world-renowned overseas researchers leading polar research and one researcher from our university as lecturers. The lectures will cover a wide range of topics from the ecosystems of polar oceans, the physical properties of snow and ice, to the behavior of the Antarctic ice sheet, encompassing both the Antarctic and Arctic regions. Additionally, using English materials related to Antarctic and Arctic science, the participating students will prepare slide presentations and engage in oral presentations and Q&A sessions in English.<\/p>\n
