Overview<\/h2>\n

Hokkaido University, as part of the ArCS-3 human resource development, conducts a glacial field practice in the Swiss Alps to deepen the understanding of glaciers and glacial landforms.<\/p>\n

In addition to conducting field observations directly on glaciers, participants will visit several representative glaciers of Switzerland to learn about various phenomena related to glaciers and the role of glaciers in the natural environment.<\/p>\n

By analyzing observation data on-site and engaging in presentations and discussions, participants will experience every aspect of field observation.<\/p>\n

Additionally, participants attend lectures on glaciology and climatology from researchers at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) and visit research institutions and observation facilities in Switzerland to learn about cutting-edge research activities. Interaction with overseas researchers and students is also one of the main objectives of this practice.<\/p>\n
